New Delhi [India], January 13 (ANI): Congress general secretary KC Venugopal on Saturday said that 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' will be different from the first one as Rahul Gandhi has gained much experience, adding that the yatra will cover more than 100 districts because the grand old party has just added Arunachal Pradesh too.
Speaking to ANI, Venugopal said that "Nafrat ki bazar mein Mohabbat ki dukaan' became historic and became the slogan of the public.
"Rahul Gandhi had embarked on a 'Tapasya' (penance) from Kanniyakumari to Kashmir through Bharat Jodo Yatra. That was historic with a great message of love and affection. 'Nafrat ki bazar mein Mohabbat ki dukaan' slogan became the slogan of the public. Now we have a strong base for this (Bharat Nyay Yatra). Rahul Gandhi gained so much experience after the Bharat Jodo Yatra. It will cover more than 100 districts because now we have added Arunachal Pradesh. The message of this yatra is reflected in the name itself," he said.
"The purpose of the yatra is to state justice. In the preamble of the constitution, the first word is justice on social, economic and political levels. There is no justice on the political level today. On an economic level, the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing day by day. Only a few people are getting benefits from the government. The government is least bothered about the poor people of India. There are no jobs, and India is among the top in terms of unemployment. Where can India go with disappointed youth?" he added.
He further said that this yatra is not political but it will yield some results in the political scenario also.
"This has not been planned like a political yatra and it is not for elections. Every party needs an ideology and this yatra suits ours. More than politics, we aim to enlarge our ideology in such a manner as to gain support for core issues in the country. This yatra will yield some results in the political scenario also. Our aim is not to make this a political issue," Venugopal told ANI.
Congress general secretary also added that in today's INDIA bloc meeting, they have invited all partner parties to the Yatra.
"We are expecting them to come. But more than that, we are inviting all people from every society," he added.
Responding to the BJP's remarks against Congress of being 'Anti-Hindu', KC Venugopal said that it is unfortunate that the ruling party has no respect towards any of its opponents.
"Unfortunately, the country has been ruled by a party that has no respect towards any of its opponents. They had earlier also said this. It will not have any impact on this Yatra. The statement from BJP's national president is itself showing the fear they have of this yatra. Rahul Gandhi has been fighting from the front only for many years. He is the person who is most credible in fighting against evil. He will raise people's issues and stand for common people. BJP is abusing and the people of India are seeing all of this," Venugopal said.
He continued to slam BJP, saying "They can only speak. What they have done for this country?"
"This is pity politics. They can only speak. What they have done for this country? Our party people have sacrificed their lives for this country. Every month I used to go temple but my belief is in uniting the people and not dividing them on a communal basis. They are using the people for political advantage. If anybody wants to go temple, they can go; there are no restrictions. But these people are making the January 22 event political and using it for their political advantage," he added.
Speaking on the INDIA bloc seat-sharing meetings taking place, KC Venugopal said that as there are 26 parties in the alliance with everyone having their ideology; it is not an easy task of seat sharing.
"There are 26 parties in this alliance. Every party has their ideology. So this is not an easy task of seat sharing. So far everything is going on a smooth basis. I am sure that within a short time, this task will be completed positively because everybody believes that we have to remove this government," Venugopal added. (ANI)
