Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], July 9 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda hit out at the opposition for considering it to be a party that has its political clout only in northern parts of India, saying that the ruling party has now turned to be an all-India party.
"In Andhra Pradesh, the NDA sweeped. I would like to point out that Andhra Pradesh is in south India. Some people try to create a narrative that the BJP is a northern India party. No. Now we are an All-India party which includes southern parts...In Andhra Pradesh, NDA won 164 out of 175 seats," Nadda said while speaking to party workers in a meeting at Thiruvananthapuram.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda was addressing the BJP State Executive meeting in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on Tuesday.
Speaking about its poll performance in Telangana, "In Telangana, our Lok Sabha seats have doubled. Just like we are waiting to win in Kerala in 2026, we want to win in Telangana as well."
The BJP won eight seats in Telangana in the Lok Sabha polls. In 2019 polls, it won four seats.
The BJP chief also congratulated its party workers in Kerala for being able to secure its first historic win in the state in the Lok Sabha polls.
"I would like to specially thank Kerala for showing good results in the Lok Sabha polls. For the first time after Independence you have secured victory (in one seat) in the Lok Sabha elections," Nadda said.
Speaking about the party's win in Odisha, Nadda said, "Recently in the Odisha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has formed the government on its own. Out of 147 seats, the BJP has won 78 and we have won 20 out of 21 seats in Lok Sabha polls."
On BJP's win in Arunachal Pradesh for the third time, the BJP chief said, "They used to say that we will not be successful in the north-east. In Arunachal, we have formed the government for the third time. We won 46 seats out of 60 seats and 54 per cent of the votes."
Nadda said that people have voted for the BJP for the third consecutive time as they support "stability" and "continuity."
"When I say that we are forming the government for the third time continuously and consecutively, then it gives a message of stability and continuity. People in India have voted for stability and continuity," he said.
Heaping praise on his party workers in Kerala, Nadda said, "Kerala is known for hardwork, for politeness, for dedication. I see these traits in my party workers. I praise you all for the dedication with which you are working for an ideology amid difficult circumstances."
Nadda said that the NDA has been able to form the government for the third time owing to party workers' dedication.
"After 60 years, for the first time, continuously and consecutively the NDA is forming the government under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi. This has been possible owing to your dedication, and being immersed in an ideology," he said.
Paying his respects to Adi Shankaracharya and Shri Narayan Guru, Nadda said, "...this land is known as the land of Adi Shankaracharya. He has played a huge role in taking forward our Sanatan Dharma. The land of Kerala has been that of gurus, of social reformers. So I pay my respects to Narayan Guru, under whose guidance social consciousness got at new boost in Kerala." (ANI)
