Nothing vindictive against Vadra, but he should face law: MoS Finance
New Delhi [India], Dec. 17 (ANI): Swatting away charges that the Centre has vindictive intentions against Robert Vadra, Minister of State for Finance Arjun Ram Meghwal on Saturday asserted that the attack was not personal, but added that Sonia Gandhi's son-in law must face the law on the Bikaner land purchase controversy "Robert Vadra had started purchasing lands in those states which were ruled by the Congress-Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. When land was purchased in my constituency, it was found out that the government has given permission for solar power plant. A normal probe takes place if a common man purchases land violating the Ceiling Act," Meghwal told ANI. Asserting that the law will do its job, Meghwal said the government is not doing anything with any vindictive approach. "We are just saying that if a common man would have bought lands, he would not have been allowed. If he would have purchased, probe would have followed. So, why is he scared of investigation? He should go to the Enforcement agency," he added. The remarks from the Union Minister come close on the heels of media reports that the Rajasthan High Court has rejected plea of a firm related to the case and directed the Enforcement Directorate to continue its probe into the land deal. The plea was made against summons by the Enforcement Directorate. According to reports, the officials and those associated with Skylight Hospital, a firm linked to Robert Vadra, would be also questioned by the Enforcement Directorate. The controversial land deal and subsequent probe are related to the alleged purchase of 275 bigha land allegedly by the company in Kolayat area of the border town of Bikaner. The Enforcement Directorate had registered a criminal case of money laundering in this case last year, taking cognisance of FIRs filed by the state police after the local Tehsildar had made a complaint.
