Not right if India, Pak fail to play WC match because of Pulwama attack: Tejashwi

Patna (Bihar) [India], Feb 22 (ANI): With uncertainty prevailing over the India-Pakistan clash at upcoming Cricket World Cup, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday said it will not be right if the two countries fail to play the match in the backdrop of the Pulwama terror attack.
“Cricketers play with sportsman spirit. We strongly condemn the Pulwama attack and we want a reply to be given, but it's not right if the countries can't play together because of it,” Tejashwi said here.
His statement came after Congress leader Shashi Tharoor told ANI, "We should not make cricket a substitute for other actions that our government should be able to take."
The Committee of Administrators (COA), which governs cricket in India, today took no decision on whether India should play against Pakistan in the World Cup and made it clear that the matter will be decided in consultation with the government.
The Committee, however, decided to write to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to state that in future, the world cricket body should sever ties with countries backing terror.
“No decision was taken on the June 16 (World Cup) match (between India and Pakistan),” CoA Chairman Vinod Rai said after the meeting.
Making it clear that the decision will lie with the government, he said, “We are in talks with the government and June 16 is far away.” (ANI)
