"Not afraid of false cases": Harish Rao after 7-hour questioning in phone tapping case

"SIT officials questioned me, and I fully cooperated with the investigation. They repeatedly asked the same questions and were also engaged in phone calls during the inquiry. I cooperated with the inquiry. I respect the law and will continue to cooperate fully with the investigation. We are not afraid of false cases. In the past, several false cases were filed against us for questioning Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his government. We would continue to fight for the rights of the public...," said Rao.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], January 20 (ANI): BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao left Jubilee Hills police station after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) questioned him for 7 hours in connection with the phone-tapping case on Tuesday.
Following the questioning, the Rao declared that BRS is not afraid of false cases and asserted that the party will continue to fight for the rights of the people.
We would continue to fight for the rights of the public..." said Rao.
Earlier, BRS leader KP Vivekanand Goud slammed the Telangana government over a notice served to party leader Harish Rao by the SIT probing the phone-tapping case, calling it "entirely fraudulent" and asserting that there is no evidence, while further asserting that the Revanth Reddy government is "wasting time" to harass the opposition.
Speaking to ANI, Vivekanand Goud said, "The case is entirely fraudulent. The case makes no sense. It has got nothing, no evidence. Unnecessarily, the government is wasting its time only to harass the opposition parties, to harass the leaders of our opposition parties. We will continue questioning the government's irregularities, and we will keep reminding the government about the six guarantees which they have promised to deliver in 100 days. Instead of answering these pressing issues, the government is resorting to tactics that aim to throttle our voices."
"The Supreme Court has already ruled that there is no merit in this case, yet the government continues to waste time harassing opposition leaders," he added.
Earlier, former DCP P Radhakrishna Rao alleged that telephones belonging to media industry bigwigs, retired cops, and politicians were monitored during the BRS government tenure. He alleged it was done to keep tabs on then Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's political rivals.
During the 2023 assembly elections, officers in Telangana allegedly intercepted the communications of several political leaders, businessmen and Tollywood celebrities, he claimed. (ANI)
