Deoghar (Jharkhand) [India], October 29 (ANI): Pappu Yadav, an Independent MP from Bihar's Purnia, who received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, allegedly due to his statements against them on Tuesday said that he is not afraid of anyone.
"I am not afraid of anyone. I just do my work and do not interfere in anyone's personal life. I am not even bothered about who is doing what. I am afraid only of God who is our public," he said.
He stated that he does not require security and asked the government to deny his earlier request of upgrading his security from 'Y' to 'Z' category, citing these threats.
"I have also told the government to remove my security. My public will provide me with security. Even now we are not in the security cover and are doing our work. They said that last night they received a threat from Malaysia. We have informed the DGP, IG, DIG and Superintendent of Police about it as per law. It was my duty. I did what a law-abiding person should have done. If someone wants to kill me, they can," he said.
Earlier in the day, he wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking enhanced security after he received a 'death threat' allegedly from a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Pappu Yadav allegedly received a death threat from a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, wherein the caller warned the Lok Sabha MP that he would kill him if he didn't stay away from issues involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
After Baba Siddique's murder, Pappu Yadav travelled to Mumbai and met his son Zeeshan Siddique. He had also strongly criticised Lawrence Bishnoi and said he could alone deal with him if the law permits.
Yadav mentioned that last night he received a threat from Malaysia, which is also being discussed on social media. We have legally informed the DGP, IG, DIG, and Superintendent of Police about this.
Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Misa Bharti also reacted to the incident and criticised the Gujarat government and the jail administration.
"I have received information from the media that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is in jail in Gujarat. This shows the inefficiencies of Gujarat's jail administration as various threat calls are being given by him from jail. Gujarat Jail authorities should look into it and find out how much truth is there in it. They should inquire about it," she said. (ANI)
