Pune (Maharashtra) [India], November 11 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prakash Javadekar lashed out at Congress over its manifesto promises, terming the announcements they made were complete "nonsense."
"Congress and BJP have announced their manifesto today. BJP calls it Sankalp Patra which means that it is a promise given to people. However, the announcement that they made is complete nonsense because we have seen their performance in the three states - Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh - where they are in power," Javadekar said.
The Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from these three states who came to Maharashtra (for campaigning) have lied, the BJP leader said, adding that they had promised one lakh jobs in Himachal Pradesh but ended up permanently terminated 1.5 lakh posts and stopped recruitment processes for two years.
They said that they were going to give Rs 2,000 to women but that's not happening, he said, adding that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh was not even providing salaries on time.
"All Deputy Chief Ministers and Chief Ministers (from three states) came here, all three have lied. In Himachal, they had assured that they would recruit one lakh youth, cancelled 1.5 lakh posts permanently and stopped recruitment for two years. How can this be called giving jobs? They said that they were going to give Rs 2,000 to women but that's not happening. Forget about the old pension scheme, they are not even giving salaries on time. This is the story of Himachal (Pradesh)," Javadekar said.
It has been 1.5 years since Congress came to power in Telangana where it had promised to provide allowance worth Rs 3,000 for the unemployed and Rs 2,000 for women, the BJP leader said, adding that the allowances have not been given until now.
"In Telangana, the allowance for the unemployed is Rs 3,000 and for women Rs 2,000. It has been 1.5 years, and it has not started yet, so this is the situation in Telangana. In Karnataka, they had said that they would give eight hours of free electricity to farmers, but there is no electricity. How will they give this much free time? Secondly, they also talked about pensions for women, in that they have not received a pension for the last 3 months. This is their record. On the other hand, in BJP-ruled states, the party did whatever it said," Javadekar said. (ANI)
