Nobody is above rule of law: Shaina NC on MNS protests against ADHM
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Oct. 22 (ANI): The controversy over the release of Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil appears to have ended with the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) allowing the film's release, post a meeting between Thackeray, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the film's producers. Commenting on this development, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shaina NC on Saturday reiterated that drama politics won't work, as nobody is above the rule of law. "Our government's stand is absolutely clear at the centre and the state that law and order must be adhered to and nobody has to right to agitate in an illegitimate manner," she said. Adding that though there is a public sentiment which is very anti-Pakistan at this juncture, that is talking about isolation- politically, diplomatically, economically and even culturally, she said, "But, it is important to understand that we are a mature democracy that goes by the rule of law and it is for the people of this country to decide if they want to watch it or they don't want to watch it." "As far as gimmickry is concerned, I hardly think a one-MLA party can be a threat to a government as strong as ours," she said. Shaina NC said that it is a welcome move that the Uri martyrs will be mentioned before the film is screened, "I think it is a welcome gesture because our entire country is standing in solidarity with our martyrs of Uri and with our Prime Minister in this fight against terror." Labelling MNS as a party which is trying to show clout and be in the limelight, she said, "Those who are trying to play drama politics have been exposed." On October 20, the Film and Television Producers Guild of India member met Rajnath Singh, concerning the release of the movie after which filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt said that the government has assured them to provide security to the exhibit the movie and will try to maintain law and order. After the situation between India and Pakistan worsened, many political parties and that Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have been demanding a ban on KJo's film that also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. In an emotional video statement, Johar earlier on Tuesday expressed a "deep sense of hurt and pain" by the charge of being anti-national. Johar, who made his directorial debut with the blockbuster romance Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, further said: "The best way to express your patriotism is to spread love and thats all I have ever tried to do through my work and cinema." The decks were cleared today, for the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The movie is scheduled to be released on October 28. (ANI)
