Nobel Memorial Wall inaugurated at Rajiv Chowk Metro station

New Delhi [India], Oct.2 (ANI): The Embassy of Sweden and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Ltd jointly inaugurated the Nobel Memorial Wall at the Rajiv Chowk Metro station of the Delhi Metro network on Saturday.

Nobel Memorial Wall inaugurated at Rajiv Chowk Metro station
New Delhi [India], Oct.2 (ANI): The Embassy of Sweden and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Ltd jointly inaugurated the Nobel Memorial Wall at the Rajiv Chowk Metro station of the Delhi Metro network on Saturday. The aim of exhibiting this wall is to spread further awareness about all the Nobel Laureates from India and their contribution to the society. The wall will be on display from 1st October to 7th October 2016 at Rajiv Chowk and NOIDA City Center Metro stations of the Delhi Metro. The Nobel Memorial Wall at Rajiv Chowk Metro station is designed and installed in a digital format this year displaying information about the contribution of the Nobel Laureates. The Wall will also have an audio commentary giving insights into the work of Rabindranath Tagore, CV Raman, Hargobind Khorana, Mother Teresa, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Amartya Sen,VenkatramanRamakrishnan and KailashSatyarthi in English. Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC and H.E. Mr. Harald Sandberg, Ambassador of Sweden to India, together unveiled the Wall. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC said: "The inauguration of the Nobel Memorial Wall at Rajiv Chowk Metro station has become a tradition to mark the beginning of the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week. This is sixth year in a row that the Wall is displayed at Rajiv Chowk station. This being an interchange station provides the opportunity to large number of people using the station to know and get inspiration from our Nobel Laureates. I would like to thank Swedish Embassy for partnering with us in this initiative where we remember the Indian Nobel Laureates for their contribution to the world." "I am delighted to continue the tradition of exhibiting the Nobel Prize winners and the great minds that India has given the world for the sixth year in a row. On the eve of the tenth anniversary of Nobel Week celebrations in India, I would like to thank DMRC for partnering with us in this initiative where we remember the Indian Nobel Laureates for making outstanding contribution to the world,", said H.E. Mr. Harald Sandberg, Ambassador of Sweden to India. Swedish companies supporting the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week 2016 are ABB, Altas Copco, Ericsson, IKEA, SAAB, Scania, SEB, Tetra Pak, Volvo Cars and Volvo Group and the SME partners are: Blueair, Camfil and CleanMotion. The Embassy also partners with KLM/ Air France for the Nobel week. The Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week is a high-profile, multi-city, multi-activity annual event organized by the Embassy of Sweden in India in cooperation with several Swedish companies. The Week is instituted in memory of Swedish innovator, entrepreneur and philanthropist Alfred Nobel. It also celebrates the contribution of Indian Nobel Laureates as well. The theme for the tenth edition of The Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Week takes place across Indore, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Guwahati and New Delhi between August 10 -October 07, 2016.
