No tradition in Parliament of any PM making adverse comment about a predecessor: Sibal

New Delhi [India], Feb. 9 (ANI): Congress party leader and lawyer Kapil Sibal on Thursday said there is no tradition in Parliament of a Prime Minister making 'condemnable' statements against a predecessor. "This is against the tradition of the House to make such condemnable statements against a former prime minister. Venkaiah ji should see the past proceedings of the House and tell us if any of the former prime ministers made such a statement," Sibal told media here. Another Congress leader Ahmed Patel said, "No responsible person has ever spoken so for Narendra ji. In the past, when he was the chief minister, he spoke for Sonia Gandhi ji also. Venkaiah ji and others should see this as well," Patel told the media here. "If this is a compliment, then I will have to interpret what actually a compliment is... If this is a compliment, then I feel pity on Venkaiah ji," he added. An outraged Congress on Wednesday staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha when Prime Minister Narendra Modi trained guns on his predecessor Dr. Manmohan Singh, accusing him of letting corruption run free under his nose but managing to steer clear of any charges. "Dr. Manhmohan has played a significant role in the economic system of India. But during the most corrupt regime in the nation, there was not a single corruption charge against him. This art of taking bath wearing a raincoat must be learnt from Manmohan Singh," the Prime Minister said. (ANI)
