Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], January 29 (ANI): Karnataka Energy Minister KJ George on Thursday categorically dismissed speculation about his resignation, asserting in the State Assembly that there was "no question of resignation" and that he continues to stand with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
George was responding to a query raised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and former minister Sunil Kumar during the ongoing Assembly session, amid reports suggesting that the minister was upset over alleged intervention by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, in various departments, including the Energy Department.
"I have nowhere said to anyone that I have resigned or that I am going to resign. It is all speculation and media creation. There is no question of resignation," George said in the House.
Seeking clarity on the reports, Sunil Kumar asked the Energy Minister to place his stand on record regarding the resignation speculation. Responding to the question, George reiterated his support for the Chief Minister and rejected the claims as baseless.
"I am with the Chief Minister and we are in support of the Chief Minister. There is nothing like this. There is no question of resignation. There is no need to raise such issues which are far from the truth," he said.
Speculation about George's resignation surfaced after reports that he was upset about Yathindra Siddaramaiah's alleged intervention in the functioning of multiple departments, including the Energy Department. However, the minister made it clear in the Assembly that such reports were unfounded.
By addressing the issue on the floor of the House, George sought to dispel the rumours, stating unequivocally that he remains part of the government and continues to discharge his responsibilities as Energy Minister. (ANI)
