New Delhi [India], August 9 (ANI): Hitting out at the AAP, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Friday said that there is no other corrupt party than the Aam Aadmi Party in the country, which is why their leaders are in jail.
This statement comes after Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was granted bail by the Supreme Court of India today.
She further went on to say, that AAP government in Punjab have implemented the same excise policy which was implemented in Delhi by Kejriwal's government but the Centre hasn't taken any action against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
On Supreme Court granted bail to AAP leader Manish Sisodia, Badal said, "Only bail has been granted, not cleanchit. There is no other corrupt party than AAP whose Chief Minister and various other ministers are in jail...The same excise policy was implemented in Punjab by the same people, then why the Central government has not initiated any action against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann..."
The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Manish Sisodia in the excise policy irregularities cases. The order has been delivered by a bench of justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan. The court also imposed various conditions including surrendering the passport and not influencing witnesses.
The top court was hearing Sisodia's appeal challenging the Delhi High Court order that dismissed his bail plea in the cases being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate.
Meanwhile, Delhi Environment Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai on Friday said that the verdict from the top court has given a clear message that there is a limit to dictatorship, no matter how strong it becomes.
"Entire Delhi and the country know Sisodia for its education sector revolution. The Supreme Court's verdict has given a clear message there is a limit to dictatorship, no matter how strong get becomes. The children of Delhi got direction because of Sisodia. They got into medicine and IITs due to Sisodia. When the entire country started feeling that there couldn't be any transformation in the country's education system, he did things that enabled the government schools to produce better results than the private schools," AAP's Gopal Rai.
Badal also reacted on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and slammed BJP for doing "politics of polarization".
On the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Badal said, "They (Central government) do not refrain themselves from the politics of polarization. They don't want minorities to live in peace...We follow the Constitution which empowers us to practice any religion. Why are they interfering in the religious affairs of minorities?"
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to "effectively address" issues related to the powers of the State Waqf Boards, registration and survey of waqf properties and removal of encroachments, was introduced in Lok Sabha.
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which amends the Waqf Act, 1995, was introduced by Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.Opposition parties, including the Congress, DMK, NCP, Trinamool Congress and AIMIM, strongly opposed the introduction of the bill, saying its provisions were against federalism and constitutional provisions. While some members demanded the withdrawal of the bill, many suggested that it should be sent to a standing committee.
Rijijiu agreed to the suggestions for further scrutiny of the bill by a parliamentary committee."
We are not running away anywhere. So, if this has to be referred to any committee, I would like to speak on behalf of my govt - a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) be formed, this Bill be referred to it & detailed discussion be held," he said.
Rijijiu gave a detailed reply to the points raised by opposition parties and said the government was acting on recommendations made by a panel constituted when the Congress-led UPA government was in power. (ANI)
