Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], January 27 (ANI): The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Sunday reiterated that there will be no alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.
AIADMK leader D Jayakumar clarified the stand of the party on the alliance issue while speaking to reporters in Chennai on Sunday.
"AIADMK Organizational Secretary and senior leader say it may be their (BJP) wish to have an alliance with AIADMK but no alliance with BJP will be formed in the 2026 Assembly elections. This is AIADMK's political stand," he clarified.
In November 2024, Jayakumar said, "No relation and alliance with BJP, that is our stand...We have many strategies for 2026 and we will win."
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Chief of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MK Stalin on Friday addressed over 3,000 newly joined party members and said that some get frustrated with the party for talking about the Dravidian Model so let them get frustrated.
The Tamil Nadu CM was speaking at a mass induction event organised by DMK at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai where around 3,000 members 'joined' DMK.
"If someone asks what is the meaning of the Dravidian Model of Government, for them the answer is this gathering of you all. If we say Dravidian Model few are getting frustrated. Let them get frustrated, we will say 'Dravidian Model' continuously. We won't get angry seeing their frustration," Stalin had said.
"I do not want to diminish the prestige of the party platform by mentioning the name of a party that is living off of a disguised drama," he had added.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the DMK won 22 out of the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, while the AIADMK lost the sole seat (Theni), which it had won in the 2019 elections. (ANI)
