New Delhi [India], July 11 (ANI): Manish Kumar Verma has been appointed as the National General Secretary of the Janata Dal-United (JDU) by the party President and Bihar's CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday.
His appointment information has been conveyed through a press statement issued by former General Secretary Afaque Ahmad Khan, a member of the Legislative Council in Bihar.
The issued statement reads, "The National President of Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar (Chief Minister of Bihar) has appointed Shri Manish Kumar Verma as the National General Secretary of the Janata Dal (United) with immediate effect. Thanking You!"

It is to be noted that Manish Kumar Verma is a former IAS and close aide of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
On Tuesday, he joined Janata Dal (United) in the capital city of Bihar, Patna.
He took voluntary retirement (VRS) from the service in 2018 and was working as a close aide to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Verma joined JD (U) in the presence of the party's working president and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha and state water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary in Patna on Tuesday.
Verma reportedly has a close rapport with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, as both hail from the Nalanda district and belong to the Kurmi community.
A 2000-batch IAS officer, Verma served as the district magistrate of the Patna and Purnea districts. He was also a member of the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority.
Recently, he has been active in the organizational works of JD (U). In the recently held Lok Sabha election, he is said to have played an important role in the party. He toured all 16 parliamentary constituencies that JD (U) contested in Bihar as part of a constituent in the BJP-led NDA alliance. The party performed well in the election, winning 12 out of the 16 seats it contested.
Notably, legislative elections in Bihar are also approaching, as the next elections are speculated to be held on or before October-November 2025 to elect all 243 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. (ANI)
