New Delhi [India], September 13 (ANI): Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday took a swipe at the Opposition bloc- INDIA over its members of the coordination committee, saying that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee  who are the decision makers should be part of the core panel.
Speaking to ANI, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushil Modi said that the members of the INDIA’s coordination committee do not have any power to make any decision and eventually they will go to their party’s high command before making any decision.
"The coordination committee they have made is very weak. There should have been Nitish Kumar, Rahul Gandhi, and Mamata Banerjee in it as they are the decision makers so therefore they should be in the panel. Senior leaders of all parties make the decisions, these people don't have the right to make any decision. Lalan Singh will go and ask Nitish Kumar later, Abhishek Banerjee is not coming. CPI (M) has not given a nominee yet. Only Sharad Pawar, Hemant Soren and MK Stalin are there,” Sushil Modi said.
He further questioned the Opposition for not selecting Nitish Kumar as a member of the panel when other big leaders like Nationalist Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar were there in the committee.
“If Sharad Pawar is there, why not Nitish Kumar... What decision can they (current members) make on seat sharing... Seat sharing is discussed between states, not in such meetings. The maximum they can do is to decide on some rally,” the BJP leader said.
He further alleged that there is an internal ‘fight’ among the leaders of the Opposition bloc over the post of prime minister.
Taking a dig at the Bihar CM, Sushil Modi also said that Nitish Kumar ‘desperately’ wants to be the PM even for one day.
“Nitish Kumar and Mamata Banerjee's names are floating...Nitish Kumar is denying but he is desperate to be the PM even for a day... They are not ready to accept each other whether it is Arvind Kejriwal or Mamata Banerjee, everybody wishes to be the PM," he added.
The first meeting of the Coordination Committee of the INDIA alliance will be held on Wednesday at Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar's residence in New Delhi.
Opposition's Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) in its third meeting in Mumbai on September 1 announced a 14-member coordination committee.
The names of 13 members have been announced; however, the name of one person is yet to be revealed. The Opposition has yet to choose a convener.
The 14-member committee includes KC Venugopal (Congress), Sharad Pawar (NCP), TR Baalu (DMK), Hemant Soren (JMM), Sanjay Raut (SS), Tejasvi Yadav (RJD), Abhishek Banerjee (TMC), Raghav Chaddha (AAP), Javed Ali Khan (SP), Lallan Singh (JD(U)), D Raja (CPI), Omar Abdullah (NC), Mehbooba Mufti (PDP) and one leader is from the CPI(M) that will give the name later.
