NHRC to organise two-day national seminar on 'Good Governance, Development and Human Rights'
New Delhi, Aug 18 (ANI): The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is organizing a two-day national seminar on "Good Governance, Development and Human Rights" at Auditorium, National Law University, Dwarka, New Delhi on August 19-20. The seminar has been organized in collaboration with National Law University, Delhi. Justice H.L. Dattu, chairperson, National Human Rights Commission will inaugurate the seminar. The commission believes that human rights add value to the idea of good governance by following a set of principles for the all around development society. The objective of conducting this seminar is to raise awareness about the importance of good governance in relation to human rights and development. It would also aim to identifying the areas of concern in this regard. Good governance, among other important factors, is also considered a crucial element as part of the development strategies. It is necessary for accountability, transparency, efficiency and rule of law at all levels. It allows efficient management of human, natural, economic and financial resources for equitable and sustainable development with participation of civil society in decision-making processes in democracy. Thus, good governance, development and human rights are complementary to each other. The seminar has been divided into four academic sessions including 'Accountability, Transparency and Human Rights', 'Identifying Challenges to Good Governance and Development', 'Creating Digital democracy through e-Governance' and Theme: 'Identifying Challenges to good governance and development and Road Ahead.'
