New Delhi: DRI recovers Rs. 15.75 crore in old denominations from Jhandewalan metro station

New Delhi [India], Apr. 9 (ANI): The Delhi Zonal Unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Sunday recovered Rs. 15.75 crore of old 1000 and 500 notes near New Delhi's Jhandewalan metro station.

New Delhi: DRI recovers Rs. 15.75 crore in old denominations from Jhandewalan metro station
New Delhi [India], Apr. 9 (ANI): The Delhi Zonal Unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Sunday recovered Rs. 15.75 crore of old 1000 and 500 notes near New Delhi's Jhandewalan metro station. The DRI personnel, while raiding a premise near the metro station, recovered the notes. A complaint has been filed against ten persons over the issue by the DRI. Under Section 7 of the newly enacted Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Act, 2017, whoever contravenes the provisions of Section 5 of the Act shall be punishable with fine which may extend to Rs. 10,000 or five times the amount of the face value of the specified bank notes involved in the contravention, whichever is higher. In this case, the total amount of fine may go up to Rs. 78.75 crore. Further investigation is in progress. (ANI)
