Netaji's family divided in battle of supremacy: Mayawati

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Jan. 03 (ANI): Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) chief Mayawati said Tuesday that Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav's family stands divided in the battle for supremacy. Taking note of the ongoing family feud, the BSP supremo had earlier said it is only going to help the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the Samajwadi Party's base vote of Yadavs will get divided. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, however, today that the BJP's defeat in the upcoming state assembly polls is certain, adding the saffron party leadership is aware about it. She further accused the ruling regime of indulging in petty politics and alleged that BJP is only working towards protecting the capitalists with its demonetisation drive. She went on to say that demonetisation would be an unforgettable black chapter in the history of India. "This (demonetisation) will be registered as such a black chapter in the history of free India. It will be impossible for the people to forget about it," said Mayawati. Taunting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she further said there are no signs of 'ache din' even in the New Year post the November 8 move to ban high-value currency notes. Criticising Prime Minister Modi's speech on New Year eve, the BSP chief said that former should have told the people how much black money has been recovered as of now and to what extent the corruption has decreased as promised by him. She added that the Dalit community is smart enough and will not be influenced by the BJP's tactics. In the latest development in the Yadav feud, the Samajwadi Party split on Sunday with a national convention declaring Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav the new national president, a post that was held by his father. The convention also made Mulayam, the patron of the party. As the day progressed, the fight between the rival factions turned ugly with supporters of the two groups fighting for the party office. The Chief Minister after being proposed as the national president said his respect for his father was more than ever, adding that he would stand against those conspiring against the party. (ANI)
