Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], February 29 (ANI): Days after the speculations were rife that Congress leader Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath might be defecting to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nakul Nath refuted the claims, asserting that neither he nor his father has any intention of switching sides.
"Fearing their defeat in the upcoming elections, BJP people are spreading false rumors about us joining BJP," Nakul Nath said in a post on 'X'.

"Today I want to make it clear from this platform that neither respected Kamal Nath ji is joining BJP, nor am I" he added.
Earlier, Kamal Nath also rubbished the speculations, stating, "Have you ever heard this from my mouth? Is there any indication? Nothing."
When Kamal Nath was asked about joining the BJP, he said, "You (media) are saying this, and no one else is saying it. Have you ever heard this from my mouth? Is there any indication? Nothing. You (media) run this news (about switching sides), and then ask me about it. First, you (media) should refute it."
The speculations, earlier, arose as a post shared by former Congress leader and BJP state spokesperson Narendra Saluja showed a picture of Kamal Nath with Nakul Nath captioned as 'Jai Shree Ram'.
Meanwhile, it took a fresh turn after Congress leader and a close aide of Nath Deepak Saxena said that the former had been given a 'cold shoulder' by the Congress party since its defeat in the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls.
"Kamal Nathji has been given a cold shoulder by the Congress party. This is why development in the Chhindwara constituency has been suffering from impediments. The public wants him to join the Bharatiya Janata Party so that the constituency can be brought on the path of development," Saxena told ANI.
"He has been neglected by the party since its defeat in the state assembly polls. The party has been blaming him for its failure in the polls, whether it is about snatching from him the post of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief or not nominating him for the Rajya Sabha," he added.
Saxena further said that the core committee of the party, involving senior party leaders in the Chhindwara constituency, has decided that he should go ahead and join the BJP in case he is continuously neglected by the Congress.
The Congress, after its abysmal performance in the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, had removed Kamal Nath from the post of PCC Chief and appointed Jitu Patwari.
Meanwhile, he was also said to have become disgruntled after the party did not nominate him for the Rajya Sabha. (ANI)
