"Needs mental treatment": Suvendu Adhikari mocks Mamata Banerjee over BJP IT cell remarks

The BJP leader also paid tribute to the fallen heroes who gave up their lives in the Nandigram movement in East Medinipur. He further mentioned that he prayed for a change in Bengal, which didn't happen in 2011, asserting that it is the demand of the people.

East Medinipur (West Bengal) [India], January 7 (ANI): Taking a dig at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee over her remarks on the Bharatiya Janata Party IT cell, state LoP Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday said that she either needs mental treatment or needs to go to the Supreme Court.
Adhikari's remarks come amidst the ongoing tussle between the BJP and TMC over the Special Intensive Revision in the poll-bound state. "She needs a bit of mental treatment. She needs mental treatment; otherwise, she will have to go to the Supreme Court," Adhikari told ANI.
The BJP leader also paid tribute to the fallen heroes who gave up their lives in the Nandigram movement in East Medinipur. He further mentioned that he prayed for a change in Bengal, which didn't happen in 2011, asserting that it is the demand of the people.
"On this day in 2007, a farmers' movement took place in Nandigram, in which many people were brutally murdered. That is why we observe Martyrs' Day here every year... 31 families have come here. Today, voices were raised here as well. The real change did not happen in 2011; this time, real change is needed. This is the demand of the people," he said.
The Nandigram Kisan Movement of 2007 was a major agrarian uprising in West Bengal, triggered by the state government's plan to acquire fertile farmland for a proposed chemical Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The agitation reached its peak on March 14, 2007, when police firing on protesters resulted in the deaths of 14 villagers.
Earlier on January 5, Mamata Banerjee slammed the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive in the state, saying that ECI is "running on WhatsApp."
Her remarks come after laying of the foundation stone for the Ganganagar Setu over the Muriganga river.
Addressing a public gathering in Gangasagar, Banerjee said, "The Election Commission is running on WhatsApp. I am very sorry to say this, but one day such an Election Commission will vanish." (ANI)
