Need to have women vigilance committees across schools :Shiv Sena
Mumbai[India], Nov. 5 (ANI):Expressing dissent over the alleged rape a 10-year-old student in Buldhana area of Maharashtra amid suspicions that the accused might have sexually abused 10 other girls for weeks, the Shiv Sena on Friday said there is a need to have committees for vigilance where women representative should get authority. Shiv Sena leader Neelam Ghore told ANI that the lackluster approach gives opportunity for the anti-social elements to exploit the situation. "This issue is related to overall human rights of all deprived people. Such residential schools may be under the tribal welfare or may be women and child department whichever school that is for mentally retarded or for tribal children there is a need to have committees for vigilance where women representative should get authority to at least have dialogue with the children so that they will come to know what is exact situation of these children," she said. "District level officers are suppose to know whether granted school are having women superintendent or not. Schools belong to NCP ex MLA and there is no women superintendent present and these situation is exploited by anti social elements. There is a need to transform all the children to safe and better place and they need to assure specially the parents," she added. 11 persons have been arrested from Buldhana area of Maharashtra late on Thursday night in connection with the rape of a tribal minor student of Ninadhi Ashram school. Shockingly, out of those arrested seven are said to be teachers and the remaining four are the staffers of the school. The girls informed their families about the assault on returning home for Diwali holidays. A special investigation team has been formed under senior IPS officer to probe the matter. A case has been registered against the main accused under IPC 376 (rape) and POCSO (Protection of children from sexual offences act) whereas, remaining ones have been charged under sections of POCSO. To take the probe further, the victim has been sent for a medical examination. Meanwhile, Buldhana police said that it is yet to be medically verified if the victim is pregnant or not. Earlier, the police was accused of trying to suppress the issue and a case was registered only after pressure was build up on the officials. However, till now, the state has not interfered or reacted to the matter. A victim, in her statement, has claimed that there are many other girls who have been raped.(ANI)
