NCP hails SC's suggestion on Ram Mandir issue
Mumbai/New Delhi [India] Mar. 22 (ANI): Hailing the Supreme Court's suggestion on Ram Mandir issue, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday said the ultimate decision on the matter would be taken by the apex court which should be honoured by everyone. "The way Supreme Court has given a directive in the case that it should be settled amicably because it is a religious sentiment issue, is laudable. Since 1949 this is a matter in a judicial system. Many time people tried to settle it amicably but everybody failed. The court has said that they will support for amicable settlement. Ultimately the Supreme Court has to decide the matter and everybody have to honour its verdict," NCP leader Nawab Malik told ANI. Echoing similar views, another NCP leader Tariq Anwar welcomed the apex court's suggestion, saying that resolving the matter through dialogues is the best solution. "This suggestion of the Supreme Court is good. If the matter would be resolved by mere dialogue and discussion then this is a very good thing to know," Anwar told ANI. The apex court yesterday said the Ayodhya dispute is a sensitive and sentimental issue, adding its best that this matter was settled amicably. The court was hearing a plea of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy today seeking urgent hearing of Ayodhya dispute in the apex court. The court asked parties concerned to sit together to arrive at a consensus and asked Swamy to consult the parties and inform it about the decision on March 31. The court also suggested if required, a principal mediator can be chosen by the court for settling the issue. Chief Justice J.S. Khehar said if the parties want him to mediate then he is ready for the task. (ANI)
