National pride shows support for demonetisation: Rajnath
New Delhi [India], Nov. 19(ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday appreciated the people of India for their cooperation in implementing the demonetisation policy, saying that "national pride" is supporting demonetisation, which is in the interest of the nation. "I call this decision of the Prime Minister as historic, brave and in nation's interest. And, such decision can only be taken by a person, who does not do politics to form a government, but does politics in the interest of the nation," Singh told ANI. "This decision will also improve the political structure, law and administration. It will also put an end on terrorism and insurgency. Not only this, it would also reduce the gap between rich and poor," he added. Singh further said though this decision is very big and is affecting people in the beginning, but they have readily accepted the decision of demonetisation. "I would like to express my gratitude to the people of our country for the national pride that they still has with them. Despite the momentary inconvenience, they have welcomed this decision which is in the interest of the nation," he added. Nearly 700 petrol pumps across the country started dispensing cash through debit card swipe yesterday for the convenience of the people. The government had yesterday decided to allow up to 2,000 per day per person to be dispensed against swiping of debit cards at selected petrol pumps where POS machines of SBI are already available. POS machines are the machines which are generally used for debit or credit card transactions. It was decided to start this facility at around 2,500 petrol pumps spread across the country including rural areas, where SBI POS machines are provided. An official release said, the Oil Industry is in further discussions with SBI and other Banks to extend this facility to over 20,000 petrol pumps gradually. (ANI)
