National Highways road length to be increased from 96, K km to 200 K km: Gadkari
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Dec. 17 (ANI): Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said that the national highways road length will be increased from 96,000 km to 200,000 km. Speaking at the launch of InfraCircle - an infrastructure-focused digital platform of News Corp VCCircle, he also announced 165,000 km as national highway. "I would request all the stakeholders to carry their responsibility sincerely and in coming days we will try to give highest priority to control the death of innocent people in road accident," Gadkari said here. "We have decided to increase the length of National Highway. Secondly we have thought to convert road into four lanes and six respectively in case the traffic level increase from a certain limit," he said. He also claimed that the government's new plans aimed at the port-led industrialisation will be of a major impact in the future. "Infrastructure as a sector is not just an employment generator but also a growth engine. By ensuring that land acquisition processes are less complicated and with improved cross-ministerial coordination to get projects cleared, the cost of projects has been optimized," he said. (ANI)
