New Delhi [India], October 24 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia launched a scathing attack on Congress and Priyanka Gandhi on Thursday, saying that the affidavit declaring her financial assets is a 'confession of corruption'.
"Priyanka Gandhi Vadra filed her nomination for Wayanad Lok Sabha bypolls yesterday, and today it won't be untrue to say that 'mohabbat ki dukaan nahi, yeh dalali ki dukaan hai,'" he said during a press statement.
On Wednesday Priyanka Gandhi filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll in Kerala, marking her electoral debut. She filed the nomination in the presence of top leaders of the party.
"The affidavit filed by her is a confession of corruption, which her family and Robert Vadra has been doing. It is not like she declared her assets of her own free will, this is a Supreme Court's judgement to give an affidavit of yourself and your relatives," she said.
Further calling the Gandhi family as 'nakli Gandhi parivar,' he claimed that they are the most corrupt people in the country.
"Everyone knows that if there is a family that is the most corrupt is the nakli Gandhi family. Everyone knows, three members of the family, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra are out on bail for corruption charges," he added.
He further claimed that there is a discrepancy between the declared assets and the Income Tax returns of Robert Vadra, he said, "The declared income of Robert Vadra is less, but what Income Tax is demanding is more. This is in contention, but for Gandhi family, they will show something and do something else. The entire country is asking Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, what was the means of the ill-gotten wealth of Robert Vadra."
Further criticising Rahul Gandhi, he said that the affidavit shows the hypocrisy of the Gandhi family when they talk about Ambani.
"Everyone has seen how Rahul Gandhi has been accusing the NDA government of stealing money away from poor people and giving to Ambani group. But Robert Vadra himself has invested in Ambani group, and holds shares in them. It has been 11 years and no one can accuse our Prime Minister of corruption...but with Gandhi, in his own house there is someone who invests in those companies," he added.
Additionally, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also hit out at Priyanka Gandhi after she had declared her assets of herself and Robert Vadra.
"The question is, what is the source of income of Priyanka Vadra? Also, Priyanka Vadra's party has been the party that abuses the Indian stock market. It is the same Vadra family which invests in stocks belonging to big industrial houses and invest in mutual funds. The question is, why Mrs Vadra and the Vadra family have this hypocrisy?" he told ANI.
"The people of India are asking Mrs Vadra that she bought a land in 2013 as per the affidavit. The value of that land has increased 5 times. What was the source of her income to buy that land? Is Mrs Vadra involved in similar shady land deals as her husband? Was Mrs Vadra and her husband working in close relation when Mr Vadra was involved in shady land deals in the NCR," he added. (ANI)
