Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], September 12(ANI): The owner of Lahoree Deluxe Bar and Restaurant in Nagpur clarified on Tuesday that four people visited his restaurant, had some drinks, and later left, after which the Nagpur Audi accident took place.
"Four people had come to the restaurant, and after having some drinks, they left, which then led to the accident," he said.
Addressing rumours about serving beef, Sameer Sharma added, "Our menu can be checked. When it's not on the menu, how has this beef issue come? I will file a defamation case and go to court against anyone spreading this false information."
These rumours spread after Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule's son, Sanket Bawankule, was linked to the Audi accident, with some politicians using it as an opportunity to criticise the BJP.
According to earlier reports, Nagpur Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rahul Madane stated on Tuesday that Sanket Bawankule confessed to being in the car involved in the crash in Nagpur's Ramdaspeth area. The incident occurred at 12:30 am on September 9, when a white Audi, registered in Sanket's name, allegedly hit several vehicles.
DCP Madane said, "We have questioned all three occupants of the car. We arrested the driver, Arjun, but he was later granted bail as it was a bailable offence." He also mentioned that the medical samples of the occupants were sent for forensic analysis, and the report is awaited.
Madane added that the car's number plate was found inside the vehicle. "There were three people in the car: Arjun Hawre, Sanket Bawankule, and Ronit Chittamwar. They (the injured) were found to be normal after a medical examination, and nothing serious was detected. Sanket Bawankule confessed that he was in the car."
The Audi reportedly hit two cars and a two-wheeler. Photos of the vehicle show significant damage.
Earlier, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule called for fair action, stating, "Whether the car is in the name of my son or a criminal, proper action should be taken against them. The police have given me the primary information. Justice should be equal for all."(ANI)
