By Ayushman Kumar Shamli [India], Nov. 28 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh police on Monday said they arrested Parminder Singh, accused of masterminding the Nabha jailbreak, when he was travelling in a Toyota Fortuner with a changed number plate. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Saharanpur (Range) Jitendra kumar Shahi told ANI that the SUV of Parminder had a Punjab registered number plate, after they fled from Nabha alonf with Khalistani terrorist Harminder Singh alias Mintoo. "The time when they committed the crime (jailbreak), they had a vehicle number from Punjab, that was circulated to everyone but they changed the number plate of the vehicle to a Haryana number," he said. When asked how the Uttar Pradesh police managed nab the accused, Shahi said the vehicle broke a barricade in Kaithal. "After they broke a barrier in Kaithal with a Haryana number and that again this Haryana number was circulated among the forces. They were unaware of this fact, which led to the arresting," he added. Parminder, a resident of Jalandhar, whom the U.P police said had escaped from jail in March this year, confessed that he was one of the persons who organised and helped Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harminder Singh Mintoo. Superintendent of Police (SP) Shamli, Ajay Sharma said during interrogation, Parminder said that he was also involved in narcotic smuggling in sates including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab. When asked about recoveries made by police, Sharma said they have recovered two SLRs, three other rifles, 544 cartridges and wireless walkie talkies from his possession. "Parminder was accused of killing Punjab police inspector Gurudev and he was on the run," he said adding that further investigation was underway. Meanwhile, Parminder has been sent to a 14-day judicial remand and the Shamli Police has filed a case under Section 353,420,467,468,471 of IPC. And 25/27 Arms Act as well. Earlier today, 49-year old Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harminder Singh who escaped from the Nabha high security prison on Sunday, was caught by the Delhi police on a tip-off by the Punjab police at New Delhi railway station.
