'Naamdar' is like a clever pickpocket: PM Modi

Panaji (Goa) [India], Apr 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that Congress president Rahul Gandhi is like a “clever pickpocket” who runs along with the mob chasing him and shouts
“Chor, Chor, Chor” in order to confuse them about who the thief is.
Prime Minister Modi, who was addressing an election rally, said that Rahul Gandhi who went to meet late former ailing chief minister Manohar Parrikar to know about his well-being told an utter lie afterwards.
“Naamdar went on for asking his wellbeing but told an utter lie after coming outside. Like a clever pickpocket who when picks someone's purse in a bus or in a mela, runs along with the public who chase the pickpocket. He himself shouts ‘Chor-Chor-Chor’ so as to confuse the public who the thief is. The mob of 40, 50 or even 100 people get confused,” said Modi.
Rahul met Parikar in January and later claimed that during his meeting, Parrikar "clearly denied" his involvement in the new Rafale fighter jet deal "orchestrated" by Prime Minister Modi to "benefit" Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani.
While Parrikar slammed Rahul Gandhi for claiming that he had denied any involvement in the finalisation of the Rafale fighter deal, saying that he felt let down that the Congress president used the courtesy visit to him for 'petty political games.'
Prime Minister Modi accused the Congress and the Gandhi family of corruption in defence deals and making the middlemen escape the country.
“They have gained illegally in the Bofors deal and make Quattrocchi escape the country. When late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government took up the matter of procuring Rafale jets, the most trusted middleman of ‘naamdar’ family went after it also. As a result, the deal was struck for years."
“They also took a huge amount in helicopter deal. The method was similar to one adopted by them in the Bofors deal. They made the middlemen like ‘Michel Mama’ run from the country. They thought that as they have made Quattrocchi fled the country, they can do it with Michel also,” said Modi.
The polling for two Lok Sabha seats in Goa will take place in the third phase on April 23. The results will be announced on May 23. (ANI)
