"My heart is heavy": AAP MLA Anmol Gagan Maan resigns, quits politics

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Kharar constituency Anmol Gagan Maan resigned from her post and decided to quit politics on Saturday.

Kharar (Punjab) [India], July 19 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Kharar constituency Anmol Gagan Maan resigned from her post and decided to quit politics on Saturday.
Sharing an X post, Maan wrote, "My heart is heavy, but I have decided to leave politics. My resignation from the post of MLA to the Speaker should be accepted."
She extended her wishes to the party and the Punjab government.
"My best wishes are with the party. I hope the Punjab government will live up to the expectations of the people," the X post read.
Anmol Gagan Maan has handed her resignation to Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.
Maan had won from the Kharar seat in the 2022 Punjab Assembly Elections, gaining 78273 votes, surpassing Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD) Ranjit Singh Gill by a margin of 37,885 votes.
She has also briefly served as the Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Investment Promotion in Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's cabinet.
Earlier on Tuesday, she met AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal and discussed key issues with him.
Sharing an X post, she wrote, "Had an in-depth discussion with our National Convenor Shri @ArvindKejriwal Ji on various key issues. His dream of uplifting society always fills us with courage and inspiration."
Before her stint as a politician, Maan was singer and has delivered popular Punjabi tracks including 'Suit' 'Cola Vs Milk' and 'Sherni'. (ANI)
