Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 22 (ANI): Ahead of the counting of votes for the Maharashtra assembly polls scheldued to take place tomorrow, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Friday exuded confidence that the ruling Mahayuti alliance will return to power.
"The work of Mahavikas Aghadi is to make allegations and our work is to develop the country and the people, we will benefit from this in the Maharashtra elections...people are with us and according to the exit polls, the Mahayuti government will be formed...we will not face any problem in forming the government," he said.
The voting for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra concluded on Wednesday.
Most exit polls have projected that the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is likely to form government, while a few predicted a close contest.
Maharashtra recorded nearly 66 cent voter turnout. Votes will be counted tomorrow.
The ruling Mahayuti alliance includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and the Nationalist Congress Party, while the opposition MVA comprises the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).
The election is significant as it is the first assembly poll in the state following the split in the Shiv Sena and NCP. (ANI)
