Muslim women beaten over beef rumour: Congress questions BJP's silence
New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): Dubbing the incident in Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur district where two Muslim women were roughed up for allegedly carrying beef as extremely 'shameful', the Congress Party on Thursday questioned the BJP's silence on matters of national importance and sought an explanation on the same in Parliament. "The BJP government is silent on every issue whether it is the matter concerning the country's internal defence system or intolerance or Dalits assault or Mandsaur incident. The BJP has to answer now on these issues in the Parliament," said Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia. Responding to earlier remark made by Madhya Pradesh's Home minister Bhupender Singh that action will be taken against the culprits in connection with the Mandsaur incident, Scindia said "The Dalits are being harassed. Women are being beaten and the police maintains silence on this issue. Is this the condition of Madhya Pradesh?" Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned the attack on two Muslim women in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, allegedly by a group of 'gaurakshaks' and urged the opposition parties not to politicise such sensitive issues. Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government believes in maintaining an atmosphere of development and trust in the country. "We strongly condemn any kind of violence against Dalits or any minority caste, be it in any state, our concern is not confined to any single state. We should also not politicize such sensitive issues, all parties should come together and fight such malice," said Naqvi. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi also believes that we have to strengthen the atmosphere of development and trust in the country and not allow any destructive agenda to disrupt our motive," he added. Naqvi further said the Madhya Pradesh Government has initiated a probe into the matter. "I am fully confident the Madhya Pradesh Government will not spare any culprit," he added. The incident spurred the Opposition to attack the Centre in Parliament over increasing violence by cow vigilantes . Taking a strong note of the incident in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupender Singh on Wednesday said that action would be initiated against those who have attempted to take the law in their hands. "Two women were arrested on Tuesday. The veterinary report stated that prima facie it was found to be buffalo meat. No one should take the law in their hands. If report comes from the women, we will take action against those who have tried to take the law in their hands," Singh told ANI.(ANI)
