Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 19 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad on Wednesday took a jibe at the Congress party for installing hoardings and banners on his birthday which mentioned that party leader Rahul Gandhi would become the Prime Minister of the country.
The UP minister said, "There is no harm in dreaming. It is like 'Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne'. Many people in India dream and to fulfil their dreams one has to work which the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi have never done. The people decide whose dreams must be fulfilled or not. The people never fulfil the wishes of those who lie."
"Deliberate attempts have been made in the last 70 years to increase poverty by the 5-year plan. The people have been kept illiterate and poor so they remain unaware. Slowly and gradually we worked to uplift them and efforts have been made to reduce poverty. We also attained success up to some extent in doing so," said Nishad.
He emphasised that the voters will be made aware so that they can make informed decisions. "People will be told to cast a vote based on the good work done by the parties. We will tell them to not vote out of fear and delusion," he added.
Notably, as Rahul Gandhi turned 54 today, hoardings and banners wishing him on his birthday were put up around 10 Janpath (the residence of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi) and party Headquarters in Delhi.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge wished him a long, healthy, and happy life.
In a post on X, Kharge said, "Warm birthday greetings to Shri @RahulGandhi. Your unwavering commitment to the values espoused in the Constitution of India and your emphatic compassion for the millions of unheard voices, are the qualities that set you apart." (ANI)
