Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Mar 18 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Wednesday dared the Bharatiya Janata Party to bring a no-confidence motion in the Assembly if they wanted a floor test to be conducted.
"A floor test is done either due to trust vote or due to no-confidence motion, ours is a running government not a new one. We have proved our majority numerous times in the last 15 months, they (BJP) should bring a no-confidence motion if they feel that we lack the majority," Kamal Nath told reporters here.
"Why are they afraid of bringing the no-confidence motion. Why are they afraid of bringing back our 16 Congress MLAs," he added.
The Madhya Pradesh CM further said that the preventive arrest of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP candidate Digvijaya Singh in Bengaluru was unfortunate and added, "If the need arises, I will go there (Bengaluru)."
Meanwhile, Singh, Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar and Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma on Wednesday reached the Commissioner's office in Bengaluru. They were placed under preventive arrest, earlier today.
Singh landed in Bengaluru in the morning and was placed under preventive arrest after he sat on a dharna near Ramada Hotel allegedly for not being allowed by police to meet the 21 rebel Congress MLAs lodged in the hotel.
The development comes amid the political crisis in Madhya Pradesh in the wake of the exit of Jyotiraditya Scindia from the Congress.
Scindia's departure was followed by 22 Congress MLAs resigning from the party as well as from the state legislative Assembly.
The resignation of these legislators has left the Kamal Nath government in a crisis. (ANI)
