Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 28 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress leaders and workers on Thursday staged a protest in the state capital Bhopal, and demanded the resignation of State Home Minister Narottam Mishra over the Ujjain minor rape incident.
Speaking to ANI, Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress President Vibha Patel said, “The way a 12-year-old girl was raped in Ujjain, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh was not taking cognizance in the matter and the police are hiding from its responsibility, it is clear that today the girl is not safe in Madhya Pradesh.”
Mahila Congress district president Santosh Kansana said, “Congress has protested in view of increasing crime against women in the state. There are many such incidents that do not even come to light because they are not heard in the police station.”
“Where is the Home Minister? The Home Minister should resign from his post. The Chief Minister should take cognizance. This is a government of dumb, deaf and robbers. There is no focus on women. These are the same women who will throw them away from power,” she added.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Culture and Tourism Minister Usha Thakur said that the government and the administration were doing their work and the law of Madhya Pradesh was very strict.
“The government and the administration are doing their work. The law in Madhya Pradesh is so strict that no criminals can escape. There is a provision of the death penalty for rape here. The girl has been admitted to MTH Hospital in Indore. Her parents are being traced, efforts are being made to find out where the girl is from and where her parents are,” She added. (ANI)
