Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 26 (ANI): Former Deputy Collector Nisha Bangre, whose resignation was accepted recently, on Thursday arrived at the residence of state Congress chief Kamal Nath in Chhindwara to hold discussions on a possible ticket to contest elections in the forthcoming state assembly polls. Congress has already named all 230 candidates for the MP elections.
Ahead of the meeting with Nath, Bangre told ANI that she was expectating the Congress to wait for her resignation to be accepted before naming the candidates of all seats.
"I was told that they (Congress) would wait for my resignation. Now my resignation has been accepted, I have come here to speak with Kamal Nath as to what he wants. I met him on Wednesday evening and he told me that he would have to speak to people in Delhi and Bhopal. So, I have come here once again to meet him," she said.
Bangre is hoping that the Congress which recently changed candidates on seven assembly seats in the state can consider her aspiration to contest from Amla (SC) constituency.
"Umeed par toh duniya kayam hai (the world exists on hope). Let's see what happens after the meeting," She said.
The Congress party on Monday declared its candidate for the Amla seat in Betul district amid uncertainty over the decision on the resignation of Nisha Bangre who was keen to contest the election. The Congress wanted to nominate Bangre from Amla, but her resignation from service was not accepted by the state government at that time.
The Congress party has fielded Manoj Malve from Amla (SC) assembly seat for the upcoming assembly polls scheduled to be held next month.
Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of contesting as an independent if the ticket is not given to her Bangre said she would seek the opinion of the people and do as they wish.
"I will work for the public. If the public says to contest as an independent or to contest from some other party, then I have no problem. As the public says, I will follow their order," she said.
On Monday the state government had accepted the resignation of Bangre, who was posted as Dy Collector in Chhatarpur district. She had resigned from her post on June 22 claiming that she did not get permission to attend the inauguration of her newly constructed house from the state government.
Madhya Pradesh will go to the polls on November 17 and the counting will take place on December 3. Through the polls, the state will elect legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies. (ANI)
