Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 21 (ANI): After being replaced by BJP Rakesh Golu Shukla for the Indore-3 constituency for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, MLA Akash Vijayvargiya said he "happily accepted this decision because it is for the party's benefit".
"Rakesh Golu Shukla has been given a ticket from the Indore-3 constituency for the upcoming state elections. We have happily accepted this decision because it is for the party's benefit. We have done several development works in the area... I believe that under the leadership of Golu Shukla, development work will get faster."
Notably, BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya is a sitting MLA of the Indore-3 constituency.
BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya is the son of prominent party figure Kailash Vijayvargiya.
The BJP has fielded BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya for the Indore-1 seat.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress and BJP are vigorously engaged in the election campaign.
The BJP on Saturday evening released its fifth list of 92 candidates for the assembly polls, and now the party has declared candidates for 228 out of 230 seats. It is yet to declare candidates for the Guna (scheduled caste) and Vidisha seat.
Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states set to hold elections this year. The state is scheduled to vote on November 17, with the vote count taking place on December 3.
Voters will choose legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies.
The Kamal Nath government collapsed in March 2021 when 22 sitting Congress MLAs resigned under the leadership of Jyotiraditya Scindia and joined the BJP. Subsequently, the BJP formed the government in the state, with Shivraj Singh Chouhan taking office as Chief Minister. (ANI)
