"Mother Cow is foundation of our economy": Haryana CM Saini at National Godhan Summit

New Delhi [India], November 5 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday described the cow as the "foundation of the Indian economy," highlighting its traditional and economic significance while addressing the National Godhan Summit in the national capital.
Speaking at the event, CM Saini said, "Mother Cow is the foundation of our economy. Since ancient times, we all know that the more cows a person owned, the wealthier he was considered. The cow has also been given the status of mother. Cow's milk is like nectar. If the child does not get mother's milk, then we can give cow's milk to the child. Cow's milk is considered to be mother's milk."
He further underscored that initiatives promoting the rearing and protection of cows not only uphold India's cultural values but also contribute to strengthening the rural economy.
The National Godhan Summit brought together policymakers, dairy sector experts, and representatives of gaushalas to discuss sustainable livestock management and ways to increase the economic value of cattle-based products.

The summit was organised from November 5th to 10th, 2025, at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi. Rashtriya Godhan Mahasangh announced that it is organising the Rashtriya Godhan Summit 2025, a landmark event dedicated to the welfare of cows and the promotion of cow-based sustainable innovations.
Meanwhile, CM Saini has announced a special scheme to provide relief to farmers affected by heavy rains and floods during the 2025 monsoon season.
Under this scheme, the payment of electricity bills for all agricultural tubewell consumers in the state, for the period from July 2025 to December 2025, has been deferred for six months.
A spokesperson of the Energy Department informed that the electricity bills issued in July 2025 will now be payable in January 2026. Similarly, the August 2025 bills will be payable in February 2026, and the December 2025 bills will be payable in June 2026.
This decision will benefit approximately 7.10 lakh agricultural consumers across the state. (ANI)
