Moradabad organizes "Run for Unity" in honour of Sardar Patel
Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Nov.1 (ANI): The Railway and Scout Guides organized a 'Run for Unity' campaign here as homage to India's first home minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The run ended at the Moradabad railway station and it was followed by people taking a pledge for national unity. "We have prayed for unity because if we are together, then we are powerful," Deeksha Lakhera, a student told ANI. Pramod Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Moradabad Division, Northern Railway, told ANI, "Today is a big event, we have organized the program. 'Run for Unity' for National Unity. Our officers, the students and all employees have participated. We are celebrating the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as national unity and will also take an oath," "The whole world is going to celebrate the birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel as a festival and as National Unity. Indian railways will celebrate this occasion with full excitement, all the workers of railway, our scout, sport members, railway employees are gathered to participate in this Unity Run. On this great festival we pay our tributes to Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel," a participant Sudhakar Ranjan Tyagi told ANI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday honoured Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his 141st birth anniversary. The government had last year decided to observe Sardar Patel Jayanti Day as Ekta Diwas. This occasion provides an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of the nation to withstand the threats to its unity, integrity and security. (ANI)
