Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March 19 (ANI): Chants of Modi, Modi were heard during Congress General Secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's visit to Mirzapur's Vindhyavasini Devi temple premises here on Tuesday.
The crowd which was stopped on the stairs of the temple for the VVIP visit was seen chanting slogans of 'Har-Har Modi' followed by sloganeering against Priyanka. The Congress leader was inside the temple when slogans were being raised.
During the visit to Goddess Vidhyawasini Temple, Priyanka Gandhi also met with her family priest in the temple courtyard and wrote a message in the visitor register.
Earlier many members of the Gandhi family including former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, have visited the holy shrine.
After visiting the temple, Priyanka also offered prayers at the Dargah of Khwaja Janab Ismail Chisti.
While Priyanka was coming out of the Dargah, she was also stopped by an individual who raised some complaints against the GST. Priyanka paused for a moment, heard the man and moved ahead without speaking anything in reply. She later also met with some women outside the Dargah and obliged few young girls with a selfie.
The visit also gave hard times to Priyanka's security as people continuously kept trying to get close to Priyanka for a selfie. Supporters were also heard raising slogans in her support while she was mingling with the crowd here.
On the second day of her Ganga Yatra, Priyanka is today visiting Vindhyachal, Bhadohi and Mirzapur.
Earlier in the day, she had termed the Yogi Adityanath government's report card on its performance in the last two years "fake" and said these did not reflect the ground reality of Uttar Pradesh.
"Everyday I am meeting people of Uttar Pradesh. Be it farmers, poor, school teachers or women, everyone is unhappy with the government. All these report cards of their performance in two years and publicity of their schemes are fake. One should visit the areas and see the ground reality," she told the media in Bhadoi. (ANI)
