Modi govt failed to fulfill their promises: Cong

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], Mar 12 (ANI): The Congress on Tuesday accused the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre of not fulfilling promises the party made in the last Lok Sabha poll campaigning.
"The CWC (Congress Working Committee) meeting was very successful. We discussed issues affecting the country in the last five years under the BJP government. The Narendra Modi government has failed to fulfill the promises of the people. People are very upset. They don't talk about the issues which they were supposed to," Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said after the CWC meeting here.
Taking a jibe at the BJP, Gehlot said that time has come to listen to the people's 'Mann Ki Baat'.
"If the UPA government comes to power, Rahul Ji (Gandhi) will carry forward the development works," he added.
The CWC meeting was chaired by Congress president Rahul Gandhi and was also attended by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra among others.
The meeting comes days after the Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the 17th Lok Sabha election, which will be held in seven phases beginning April 11. The final phase of voting will take place on May 19. The counting of votes will be done on May 23.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi over his blog criticising the Congress, saying he is "worried and frustrated."
"If Prime Minister is writing his blog than it means that he is worried and frustrated. We do not care what they say about the Congress," Patel said.
On the 89th anniversary of the historic Dandi March led by Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday took a jibe at Congress, saying, "Its culture is the anti-thesis of Gandhian values."
He quoted the works of Mahatma Gandhi to claim that Congress stands for everything that the Father of the Nation did not like -- "casteism, corruption, communalism and dynastic politics."
The Prime Minister in his blog titled, "When a handful of salt shook an Empire!" said, "Gandhi Ji taught us to think of the plight of the poorest person we have seen and think about how our work impacts that person. I am proud to say that in all aspects of our Government’s work, the guiding consideration is to see how it will alleviate poverty and bring prosperity. Sadly, the anti-thesis of Gandhian thought is the Congress culture." (ANI)
