New Delhi [India], October 9 (ANI): With the Election Commission of India announcing dates for the assembly polls in five states, Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy on Monday referred to December as a "miracle month" and mentioned that Christmas falls on December 25, saying he is confident that his party will experience a political miracle and come to power in the state.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced the schedule for assembly polls in five states -- Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram.
"Congress is going to come to power in Telangana because the people are ready to make Congress win...December is a miracle month, Christmas is on December 25. So, a miracle is going to happen in Telangana," Revanth Reddy said.
Earlier in September, Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi announced six "guarantees" for the people of Telangana after the CWC meeting.
"We are going to sign the file of 6 guarantees on December 9...We are going to rule Telangana for the next 10 years," he added.
Elections will be held in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 23 and Telangana on November 30.
The counting of votes will take place on December 3 for all five states.
Telangana is set to witness a triangular contest between the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Congress in the upcoming assembly election.
In the previous Assembly election held in 2018, BRS managed to win 88 seats out of 119 and had a dominant vote share of 47.4 per cent. Congress came at a distant second with 19 seats. Its vote share was 28.7 per cent (ANI)
