Milind Deora appointed as Congress Mumbai Unit on Monday.

New Delhi [India], Mar 25 (ANI): Milind Deora, former Union Minister and close confidant of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, was on Monday appointed as chief of the party’s high profile Mumbai unit, replacing Sanjay Nirupam, amid reports of an internal feud.
Rahul Gandhi has "appointed Milind Deora as the new president of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee. The party appreciates the contribution of outgoing President Sanjay Nirupam,” said a press release issued here by the Congress.
Congress has named Nirupam as its candidate from Mumbai North-West Lok Sabha seat which is currently held by Gajanan Chandrakant of Shiv Sena.
The change of guard comes less than two months after Deora, in a series of tweets, made public his disappointment over the affairs in the party unit under Nirupam.
“@INCIndia is leading a powerful, united campaign across India. Infighting cannot, and should not, be allowed to threaten our base in Mumbai. I appeal to all Congress leaders in Mumbai to unite as a team. We owe this much to our party and to Congress President @RahulGandhi,” he tweeted on February 5.
“In a city like Mumbai, which is our economic and cultural capital, we need to bring people together. The Mumbai Congress cannot become a cricket pitch for sectarian politics, with leaders pitted against one other,” he had said in another tweet.
Later, speaking to ANI, Deora had said, “Sanjay Nirupam is our party's president in Mumbai. It is his duty to ensure that all leaders work together, even if someone is angry or upset.”
Urging all other leaders to “keep aside their personal differences and work together”, he had said, “There are differences in all organisations and parties. There is group-ism in all parties.  What I have tried is that I bring all parties on one platform. And this is also what I keep telling Sanjay Nirupam and other leaders.” (ANI)
