Mehrauli MLA on IT radar: AAP's dual standard exposed, says BJP
New Delhi, Aug. 10 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said the latest revelation regarding Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Kartar Singh Tanwar, who allegedly hid assets worth Rs. 130 crores, has exposed the dual standard of the ruling party in Delhi which entered national politics with the mission to fight corruption. BJP MP Udit Raj said the Income Tax (IT) Department carried out the search on an Aam Aadmi Party MLA in Mehrauli and found approximately about Rs. 130 crores unaccounted money. "The Aam Aadmi Party started its mission in the beginning that it will fight out the corruption and now there is a contradiction that its own MLA is involved in black marketing, may be the source of money is graft. So, this is a dual standard of the Aam Aadmi Party," he added. 54-year-old Tanwar is a property dealer, who represents the Mehrauli constituency of South Delhi. The IT officials, who raided his home and offices last month, allege that they uncovered documents that prove the AAP leader owns large farmhouses and benami or proxy-owned properties through his associates. As per reports, the AAP MLA was unable to explain how much he paid for the farmhouse that he lives in which covers 2.6 acres in South Delhi. The AAP, however, jumped to Singh's rescue post the raids and alleged that he was being framed by investigating agencies acting on the Centre's behest. (ANI)
