Mehbooba must clarify why she wanted to give Wani a 'chance': Cong
New Delhi, July 29 (ANI): The Congress on Friday slammed Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti over her remarks on slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, saying Mufti must tender an explanation as to why she wished to give a chance to him. "I think Mufti is completely confused, so I don't know what she means by 'chance'; and I don't know what she is trying to convey but whatever it is, she should have more clarity and she should give more clarity to the people in the state and to the rest of the nation as well," said Congress leader Renuka Chowdhary. Mufti had yesterday claimed that the security forces were unaware about Wani's hideout, adding that he would have been given a chance had they known about his presence. Speaking to reporters, Mehbooba said, "How are we supposed to know everything about every encounter? As far as I know and what I heard from the police and the army that they only knew there were three militants inside the house, but did not know who they were." (ANI)
