MCD polls a personal referendum for Kejriwal: Yogendra Yadav
Chennai (Tamil Nadu),[India] May 3 (ANI): Lashing out at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal over the party's performance in the recently concluded Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, former party leader Yogendra Yadav said the campaign was more of a 'personal referendum' than a wholesome party campaign. "The whole of Delhi was filed with pictures and hoardings of Arvind Kejriwal alone. It had nothing to do with promoting the AAP. It looked like a personal referendum," Yadav told ANI here on Wednesday. "This is reflected in the party's performance. The people of Delhi voted against the AAP due to the inefficiency of the current government, not because they wanted to favour the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)," Yadav added, taking a jibe at the BJP. Commenting on the turmoil within the party management, Yadav said that as a 'spectator', it is sad to see a change in the party's ideology from transparency and moral principles to a 'power tussle behind closed doors'. "I am neither a player nor a referee. As the spectator I can say that based on the current situation of AAP, it can be said that there is no difference between the party and its contemporaries as was the case two years ago," he said. Latest in the line of developments in the AAP is the suspension of Delhi legislator Amanatullah Khan, who had accused Kumar Vishwas of having been planted in the party by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Amanatullah, who had resigned from the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) following a high-end meeting of the party members, now stands suspended from the party. The announcement of suspension was made by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Vishwas will now be in-charge of Rajasthan affairs. (ANI)
