Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 15 (ANI): While campaigning for Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha elections is in its final phase, Minister of State (Union of India) - Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and MP from Muzaffarnagar, Sanjeev Balyan, said that BSP chief Mayawati's wish of making western UP a separate state if she comes to power is a good thing, but she won't get the opportunity to do so.
Speaking to ANI, Sanjeev Balyan, the Union Minister and BJP candidate from Muzaffarnagar, said, "She has said a good thing (on BSP chief Mayawati's statement to make western UP a separate state), but she won't get the chance. People have already made up their minds to make PM Modi the Prime Minister again, even the opposition candidates will say so. Since PM Modi has assumed power, there is pro incumbency and we are going to the people based on the work that we have done."
A day before, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati, while addressing a public meeting in Muzaffarnagar, announced that if her government is formed at the Centre, they will declare Western Uttar Pradesh as a separate state. She also alleged that during the Samajwadi Party's government in Uttar Pradesh, hatred between Jat and the Muslim community increased.
"We will declare Western Uttar Pradesh as a separate state when our government is formed at the Centre, for the development of the people of this region. Along with this, special attention will be given to the interests of farmers, labourers, unemployed and small traders. When the party was formed, people from the opposition party had spread the word that BSP was against the Jats. But when our government was formed, there were no riots in Western Uttar Pradesh, especially Muzaffarnagar," she said.
Ahead of the elections, the BJP candidate said that they were receiving a lot of love from the people of Muzaffarnagar. "Not even one week is left but the way we are getting the love of people, I also love the people here and they also love me."
On being questioned about how many seats they will win, Balyan said, "The situation is like 2014. The kind of situation there was in 2014, is the same at present."
Reflecting his views on the BJP's manifesto Sankalp Patra and slamming the opposition's criticism, Balyan claimed that after independence, no post is left vacant in the central government and all the vacancies have been filled. "For the first time after independence, there is no vacancy left in the Central Government. We have given 10 lakh jobs in the past year. All the vacancies in the central government have been filled."
Muzaffarnagar, one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, will vote during the first phase of the general elections set to be held on April 19, with the date of counting and announcement of results scheduled for June 4. (ANI)
