New Delhi [India], December 1 (ANI): Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Virendra Sachdeva stated on Sunday that the arrest of AAP MLA Naresh Balyan would expose more individuals as the investigation unfolds.
He remarked that the ongoing probe into the alleged extortion case is likely to reveal further developments.
"...The accused MLA has been sent to two days of police remand, and I believe that as the investigation progresses, many facts will emerge, and more people will be exposed," the BJP leader told ANI.
"They [AAP leaders] have been looting the public of Delhi. The truth must come to light at the earliest," he added.
Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Sunday remanded Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan to two days of police custody in connection with the extortion case. Balyan was arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Saturday.
"Delhi Police's Crime Branch has arrested Naresh Balyan, an MLA of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, in connection with an extortion case. The arrest followed the examination of an audio clip featuring a conversation between the MLA and notorious gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu," the Delhi Police posted on X on Saturday.
This development comes after the release of an audio clip by the BJP, purportedly featuring the AAP legislator from Uttam Nagar instructing gangster Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu.
"In this case, there is an audio recording of a conversation between Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu and AAP MLA Naresh Balyan in the public domain. The ongoing actions by the Delhi Police against gangsters operating from abroad aim to identify their local associates. The primary motive of organised crime conducted from abroad is financial gain," the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) stated.
On Saturday, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia alleged that Naresh Balyan was involved in extortion with the assistance of a gangster, asserting that "gangsters are the biggest supporters of AAP."
"AAP has become a party of goons. Gangsters are their strongest supporters. They openly extort money by threatening the common man under the instructions of AAP MLAs. With Arvind Kejriwal's consent, AAP MLAs are running extortion rackets and intimidating innocent citizens," Bhatia said.
"In an audio clip of AAP's 'extortionist' MLA Naresh Balyan, he is heard discussing extorting money from a builder with a gangster. Is it the duty of an MLA, who has sworn to uphold the Constitution, to threaten citizens and run extortion rackets with Kejriwal's approval?" Bhatia added. (ANI)
