Manohar Parrikar's son attacks Rahul Gandhi on Rafale order

A heated debate unfolded in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday as Union Home Minister Amit Shah sharply attacked the Opposition during the debate on a resolution seeking the removal of Speaker Om Birla, accusing them of undermining parliamentary traditions and spreading misinformation about the functioning of the House.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Centre, all State governments and institutions receiving public funds to dissociate the chairperson of the NCERT social science curriculum, Professor Michel Danino, along with his two associate members, from any role in preparing school curriculum or finalising textbooks for the next generation over the controversial sub-chapter titled "Corruption in the Judiciary" in the Class 8 NCERT Social Science textbook.

Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar clarified that there is no shortage of LPG gas in the state and people need not panic unnecessarily.

"Today in the Punjab Assembly, we discussed the Indo-US treaty - a secret agreement that is being finalized - which will have a dangerous impact on Punjab's agriculture. Under this deal, 'Soya Meal' will be imported from the US to be used as animal and poultry feed," Mann said.

"I must say that the PM has let the country down. He has betrayed the country. I do not use the word lightly but precisely because I believe that the PM has betrayed the country when he signed the US deal. And the result of it is going to be borne by the people of our country. By our farmers, by our small and medium business owners and by our workers. No PM before him has opened agriculture to American agriculture," Gandhi said.

"It is not shocking that America is happy with the trade deal. As per the trade deal, we are decreasing the import tax, especially in the agricultural sector. They (US) are increasing it. The statement issued by the US Treasury Secretary regarding Russian oil is extremely catastrophic. From where and when to buy oil should be the decision of our government. It is an issue of sovereignty. Who is America to tell us that you can buy for 30 days and after that you are not permitted," Ramesh told ANI.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Friday lashed out at the Central government as he viewed the US' 30-day waiver for New Delhi to purchase Russian oil as an "attack" on the country's sovereignty.
