New Delhi [India], January 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Jangpura Assembly constituency candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah on Saturday called Manish Sisodia an "outsider" and asked him to vacate it otherwise the AAP leader will "lose his security deposit" in the assembly polls.
Marwah, a three-time former MLA from Jangpura on the Congress ticket, joined the BJP in 2022. AAP has already announced Sisodia from the seat replacing his sitting three-time MLA from the seat Praveen Kumar.
"I thank the party leadership for giving me a ticket from the Jangpura Assembly constituency. The public is also astonished as to why Manish Sisodia changed his seat. I have always contested elections from the Jangpura Assembly constituency," Marwah told ANI.
"Manish Sisodia is an outsider and he should vacate this seat otherwise he will lose his security deposit...He has been involved in various scams and he will again go to jail," he added.
Sisodia has earlier represented the Patparganj seat between 2013-2024. In the 2020 assembly polls, he won the seat by narrow margins.
Earlier today, BJP released its first list of 29 candidates for Delhi assembly elections expected to be held in February 2025.
The BJP has fielded National General Secretary Dushyant Gautam from Karol Bagh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden, Kailash Gehlot from Bijwasan and former Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely from Gandhi Nagar among others. Parvesh Verma has been fielded from the New Delhi assembly seat against party supremo Arvind Kejriwal.
The assembly elections in Delhi are due in February and the dates for the same are expected to be announced in a few days.
AAP won 62 out of the 70 seats in the 2020 assembly elections and BJP secured eighth seats. Congress, which was in power in Delhi for 15 successive years, has performed poorly in the past two assembly polls, failing to win any seat. (ANI)
