Man carries brother's dead body on bicycle: Sonowal orders probe
Guwahati (Assam) [India] Apr 19 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a probe into an incident in which a video shows an Assamese man carrying his 18-year-old brother's body on a cycle in his assembly constituency Majuli. The incident is of Majuli island in Brahmaputra. According to the district officials, the man along with six others had brought his brother, Dimple Das, to the hospital on a bicycle at around 3.30 a.m. on Monday. But Dimple died due to respiratory problems and they left with his body tied to a bicycle. According to officials, the absence of a concrete bridge in the area has made it impossible for ambulances to ferry the patients or victims in this part of the state. A video footage recently surfaced showing a man using a cycle to carry his brother's body for crossing a bamboo bridge, the only link that connects his village Luit Khabalu and the mainland. The boy was taking his brother's body back home from the hospital to perform his last rites. (ANI)
